SFI –Safer Fast Isolations

Value: £800k

Date: April 2021

PACE undertook a crucial role in the Western Route Safer Faster Isolation project, where the objective was to implement a safer and more efficient isolation system between Paddington and Acton. Contracted for the civils works, PACE's responsibilities encompassed the installation of seven new LCC bases, new route works, walkways, handrails, fencing, ballast boards, Armco barriers, step access, and staging elements. This project presented several challenges, particularly when the initial civils scope evolved shortly after the contract award. The changes were prompted by network rail maintainers seeking enhancements to the original AFC designs. In response to this challenge, PACE demonstrated its adaptability by placing a senior construction manager/engineer within the AmeyInabensa team. This collaborative effort aimed to closely engage with client stakeholders, defining and challenging any ambiguity within the revised design proposals. PACE's proactive approach in raising technical queries and providing value-engineered solutions was acknowledged and appreciated by the client. This collaborative effort not only eliminated safety concerns but also mitigated potential program delays and costs associated with the design changes. The successful delivery of the project with no accidents underscored PACE's commitment to safety, efficient project management, and innovative problem-solving. The Western Route Safer Faster Isolation project not only met its objectives but also highlighted PACE's ability to navigate evolving project scopes, engage in proactive collaboration, and deliver successful outcomes even in challenging circumstances. The positive recognition from the client further solidified PACE's reputation as a reliable partner capable of managing complex civils works with a focus on safety, efficiency, and value engineering.
